May 2006

Sebastian Valentine has recently graduated from the Royal College of Music, having studied voice with Mollie Petrie, Ashley Stafford and Ryland Davies, and orchestration with Kenneth Hesketh. He has sung as soloist with Choral Societies across the UK, performing a varied repertoire of works including The Brahms, Faure, Derufle and Mozart Requiem, Bach Magnificat, Christmas Oratorio, Mass in Bminor and St John Passion, Rossini Petite Messe Solonnelle and Orf Carmina Burrana.

Sebastian is also active on the opera stage, having sung Papageno in Mozart’s Magic Flute, Mountjoy in Britten’s Gloriana, Starveling in Mozart’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and most recently, “a wonderfully pompous Poo-Bah” (Warrick Thompson for The Metro) in Charles Court Opera’s acclaimed production of Sullivan’s The Mikado at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, Islington.

Sebastian is a director of Charles Court Opera and returns to The Rosemary Branch later this month for a revival of The Mikado and an all new production of Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore, and immediately after, Leporello in Minator Music Theatre’s new production of Mozart’s immortal classic Don Giovanni, also at the Rosemary Branch.

As well as his singing activities, Sebastian is also in increasing demand as an Orchestral and Choral conductor. He is founder of the Hyde Park Chamber Orchestra and makes his Operatic debut conducting Handel’s masterpiece Julius Caesar with Runaway Opera at Blackheath Halls in July.
